Meet the Owner
Analicia Lucas, M.S. CCC-SLP
I’ve had an interest in speech since I was young, but my passion for helping people with speech and language difficulties began as I learned Spanish in a foreign country and American Sign Language at a university for the Deaf. I began to realize how difficult it is to communicate when your skill set is different from those around you. When I entered graduate school and met many patients with speech and language difficulties, I became eager to find new ways to help them.
A native Texan, I moved across the country to start my career in San Diego, where I received training in bilingual and cochlear implant-related therapy. Throughout my career, I learned how to effectively help people with autism, stuttering, voice disorders, hearing loss, brain injury, stroke, cleft palate, apraxia of speech, and many types of speech and language impairments to improve their communication skills. I have provided diagnostic and therapeutic services in the outpatient clinic of two large hospitals and one private doctor’s office with children and adults of all ages.
As I gained experience and developed my clinical skills, I had a dream to open a private practice of my own. I opened Lake Murray Speech & Language to help children and adults who would benefit from speech services, but who are looking for more options. I now have the privilege of serving patients from my home-based practice. When I’m not seeing patients, I enjoy mentoring new therapists, hiking, singing, cooking, and spending time with my family.

Meet the Staff
Martha Cavazos, M.S. CFY-SLP
My name is Martha and I am one of the speech pathologists here at Lake Murray Speech. I am from Laredo, Texas, an average sized town located near the border of Mexico. I attended Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where I graduated with a Bachelors degree of Science in Communication Science and Disorders. I then attended West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas where I obtained my Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology.
My interest for this profession first sparked in high school when I saw the need for speech pathologists in my community. Growing up in an area where the majority of the population was Hispanic, I was able to witness the amount of language barriers that affected people in my community and the underutilization of the services provided. Upon the completion of my education and training, I wanted to actively share my knowledge and skills with a community who would benefit from an SLP who was bilingual and understood and respected different cultures. I then moved to San Diego where I completed my externship at one of the largest hospitals in the area.
Throughout my experience, I learned how to effectively treat people with language and articulation disorders, autism, stroke victims, brain injury, voice disorders, and many other types of communication disorders. My favorite part about my career is being able to meet different families and involving them throughout the therapy process. I enjoy educating parents and care takers who play essential roles and help maximize their loved ones potential to succeed. My love for this career continues to grow more and more as I meet new clients and families. Currently, when I am not working I enjoy pilates, exploring San Diego with my husband and daughter, running, and trying new restaurants.
Lake Murray Speech & Language was created to provide high-quality, more affordable speech and language services for those seeking private individual therapy. Our mission is to help each person gain the skills and confidence they need to become excellent communicators.
In San Diego, there are many opportunities for children to receive speech therapy at no cost to the family. San Diego Regional Center speech therapy services are available for children ages 0-3 with severe needs. Chidren's Care Connection (C3) services are available to children 0-6 with mild to moderate needs. The San Diego RiteCare Childhood Language Center also accepts applications for free therapy for children ages 2-12. Your local school district provides free services to those who qualify (generally, children with moderate to severe impairments). If your child qualifies for any of these services, we encourage you to use them!
However, many children do not qualify, even if parents see a need for speech services. Other times, children qualify but are placed on a long waitlist. Some only qualify for very short sessions within a group setting and make limited progress this way. Similarly, if adults have a health insurance policy that does not cover speech therapy, the options for low or no-cost therapy are limited. That is why Lake Murray Speech & Language was created! We provide speech therapy in San Diego to those who are looking for more options.
